Google Maps

Local Search is evolving and big changes are continuing to take place within Google. Previously, as you know Google displayed Local Search results and Google Maps listings for queries that were geographically targeted with location-specific searches like "plumber in newbury" or "pizza delivery newbury."

Google is now automatically determining a user's location based on IP address and serving them local results even when the region isn't specified in the query. That means that searching for plumber or pizza returns local search results targeted to your location (or at least the location of your ISP)

Bear in mind that, previous to this change, it was nearly impossible for any small local business to get a first page listing for a highly competitive, generic search term like pizza or plumber. Now, however, any business with a Google Maps listings could get page one exposure for your best keyword if the search originates from your local region.

So in one sentance, to help your internet presence : Get your business onto Google Maps - if you don't know how, ask us for help!
